Allied Wine Group required a clean and elegant design that fit with their new brand. They also needed the site to properly calculate bottle deposits and taxes, allow external products to be easily referenced, yet fit in with the products they offered, and include product PDF reference sheets for customers to access easily.
We built a beautiful Shopify store designed off of Artisan from OOTS and customized to their design. We further modified the site with easily customizable products and a custom bottle deposit system that properly sets taxes. Custom fields are used to show product sheets and variant data points to show number of bottles per case.
Using the Artisan from Out of the Sandbox as the base theme, this custom designed site pulls you into Allied Wine Group’s brand, their clean style, attractive colours and imagery. This design doesn’t reinvent the wheel, meaning it stays within budget, has the features you would expect, and looks and feels truly custom; all at a fraction of the cost of a fully custom site.
Adding the bottle deposit to cost of a case made adding proper taxes and tracking of number of deposits difficult. Deposits also needed to be clearly shown on invoices and in reports, so we built a custom functionality to add a new, non-taxed bottle deposit product that would multiply based on the product tag in the corresponding case. The end result is the correct number of bottle deposits in the cart and checkout, non-taxed, and tracked as a separate item in reports.
Many of the wines that Allied Wine Group carries has its’ own product spec sheet in PDF that we needed to incorporate into the product page. We added a simple system that allows an admin to upload the file and with a simple line of html, it would be instantly added as a product sheet for that wine.
Allied Wine Group carries wine from all over the world and also supply many of those directly to the LCBO. These products are considered LCBO exclusives so while they’re not able to be sold on Allied’s site, they wanted to feature these items and add an easy way to connect the product page to the listing on the LCBO store. A custom field was included where admins could add in the URL of the product from the LCBO site and a clear way to purchase would be enabled on the product page.
